Top 10 Best Children’s Books from Adventure
The best children’s books are the ones that are read time and again—and that educate while they entertain. Adventure Publications has been publishing these kinds of books for years, and I thought it would be fun to look at their top 10. Following is a list of the publisher’s most popular juvenile titles of national interest, ranked from 10 to 1:
10. Floppers & Loppers (ages 0–6): The number one title in the Adventure Board Book Series takes a look at the animal kingdom’s most amazing ears. It features short sentences and Stan Tekiela’s amazing photography.
9. Animal Tracks Activity Book (ages 5–10): The first activity book on this list of best children’s books was inspired by the successful Animal Tracks identification guides. It introduces mammals and their tracks via coloring pages and activities.
8. Yellowstone & Grand Teton Activity Book (ages 5–10): This Color and Learn title makes the top 10 with its focus on two beloved national parks. It introduces the parks’ attractions, wildlife, and natural history.
7. The Cutest Critter (ages 0–6): Which critter is the cutest in the land? This rhyming picture book by Marion Dane Bauer and Stan Tekiela answers that question. It’s among my boys’ favorite animal books.
6. Nature Log Kids (ages 7–12): The logbook ranks as one of the best children’s books because it’s such a great way to get kids into nature. The guided journal poses specific questions that have children exploring and thinking about the natural world around them.
5. Some Babies Are Wild (ages 0–6): This top 10 book is another from the creative duo of Marion Dane Bauer and Stan Tekiela. The rhyming picture book spotlights some of the most beloved animals in North America.
4. Bird Log Kids (ages 7–12): A perfect introduction to the joys of bird-watching, this top title from the Nature Journals series offers log pages to record written and drawn observations, a life list, photo and art pages, and more.
3. Baby Bear Discovers the World (ages 4–8): This bear cub adventure gets a lot of credit for launching the children’s book arm of Adventure Publications. It won a 2007 Mom’s Choice Award and has remained one of the publisher’s best children’s books.
2. Constellations Activity Book (ages 5–10): I’ll proudly claim the second spot on this impressive top 10 list. My activity book uses dot-to-dots and other fun activities to introduce some of the most popular and interesting constellations.
1. Whose Butt? (ages 4–8): Acclaimed author and nature photographer Stan Tekiela takes the top spot with a picture book that’s widely considered one of the best animal books available. The book uses a giggle-worthy topic to educate readers about animals.
